Scorsese to Make Film on George Harrison

Martin Scorsese and Olivia Harrison announced today that Scorsese will direct a documentary on the life of the late George Harrison.

Olivia Harrison says that "It would have given George great joy to know that Martin Scorsese has agreed to tell his story." She also stated that the work on the film has already begun, even though it is expected it will be a few years before the release.

Scorsese will use archival film along with new interviews in compiling the documentary. He stated, "Harrison's music and his search for spiritual meaning is a story that still resonates today and I'm looking forward to delving deeper."

Previous music documentaries made by Scorsese include The Last Waltz, No Direction Home: Bob Dylan, The Blues (executive producer) and the forthcoming Rolling Stones documentary Shine a Light. He also directed the video for Michael Jackson's Bad.
